Laura is co-owner and manager of Advanced Transmission, overseeing the daily activities from the business aspect of the office. Being a woman holding a leadership role in a predominantly man's field has been especially challenging. She has overcome this with flare and holds a prominent position as a board of director (elected 2 consecutive terms) with the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association (ATRA) serving the transmission rebuilding industry internationally. Laura has also served (ATRA) as the past president of the Gulf States Chapter for many years. Her diversified experience also includes being a State of Alabama licensed Notary Public and Realtor. She never lets an opportunity to learn more about the industry and business in general pass her by and is constantly taking advantage of management seminars and other classes designed specifically for the transmission industry. "My main goal is to strive to help change the negative image of the automotive repairing industry." In Laura's spare time, she enjoys time with her grandchildren.
Marvin is co-owner and Lead technician of Advanced Transmission, overseeing the shops daily production. Marvin is an ATRA Certified Rebuilder, Diagnostician and Chassis Technician. He is also ASE certified. Marvin grew up in the transmission business working for his father for 17 years, gaining priceless knowledge about older model transmissions from his father the late Woody Wilson. Marvin is continuously taking advantage of training seminars, webinars, EXPOs, etc., to keep himself abreast of the new models in an ever-changing industry, applying his hands-on experience as a daily working owner. Ensuring Advanced Transmission is offering to its customers the highest quality of work possible. Marvin's 43 years of experience has gained him recognition by industry leaders for his technical expertise. In his spare time, Marvin loves hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Especially time spent passing that legacy to his grandchildren.
Dilion is one of Advanced Transmission’s Chassis Technician. The owners Marvin and Laura Wilson believe he is one of the fastest and more knowledgeable apprentices to come to work for Advanced Transmission. Dilion has loved working on vehicles since he was just a toddler with his dad – mainly “holding the flashlight”. Dilion graduated from Bay Minette High School and attended North Baldwin Center for Technology in Automotive at the top of his class. Dilion came to Advanced Transmission upon high recommendation from his instructor at North Baldwin. Dilion took all 9 of the ASE tests offered and passed them all. He started working a summer job at 16 years old rebuilding marine diesel engines and after school each day worked at a facility doing engine swaps. Dilion remembers passing by Advanced Transmission as a child and always wanted to work here one day. Even though he has helped his dad work on a lot of different aspects of a vehicle, they never worked on rebuilding transmissions and Dilion wanted to learn something new. In his spare time, Dilion loves hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors.
Bob joins Advanced Transmission as its rebuilder with over 20 years’ experience. Bob started out cleaning floors at an Aamco in Illinois when he was 18 years old shortly after specializing in automotive at a local trade school. While at Aamco, one of the R&R technicians was out one day and his boss asked if he could pull a transmission. Bob replied “yes sir” and from that moment on he worked as an R&R technician and then worked his way up to rebuilder. While in Illinois, he obtained a CDL license where he drove a snow plow, however, he prefers the weather here in Southern Alabama and especially loves the Southern hospitality. In his spare time, Bob loves the beach, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his son.
Rick Rounsaville joins the Advanced Transmission team as a Chassis Technician and brings with him over 22 years’ experience in the transmission industry and an additional 12 years in the brake/wheel/tire industry. Upon graduating high school, Rick attended Okaloosa Technical School where he majored in Automotive Repair. In his spare time, Rick has many interests including restoring, rebuilding and customizing antique vehicles. Rick is also an avid bird lover which includes caring for 13 different kinds of birds as well as volunteering for a local bird park close to home in Pensacola. Rick has a passion for the outdoors including hiking and running 5K & 10K races.
Owen is Advanced Transmission’s newest Apprentice Technician. He is the owners Marvin and Laura Wilson’s Grandson. Owen is going to be working here for the summer, learning the basics of automotive and deciding if this might be a career path he wants to take. Also, he is the proud owner of a 1977 Chevrolet K10 Truck (his current dream truck) and wants to learn how to do repairs and maintain it as he and his Grandfather work together to restore it. Owen is a very bright, handsome young sophomore at Fairhope High School and in his spare time, Owen loves hunting, fishing, gaming and hanging out with his friends.
